Das
Ausstellungs- und Veranstaltungsprogramm plan – Forum aktueller Architektur
in Köln ist 1999 mit seiner
Erstausgabe angetreten, um ein neues Mittel der Kommunikation für Architektur
und Städtebau zu schaffen: ein jährlich wiederkehrender Termin als Kulturangebot,
das sich gleichermaßen an Architektur-„Insider“ aus allen Bereichen und an ein
breites Publikum wendet. Das dezentrale Projekt, das die gesamte Stadt als
„Bühne“ nutzt, bietet eine Netzwerk-Situation, die sowohl einem direkten
Kontakt zwischen den Akteuren architektonischer und städtebaulicher Prozesse
dient, als auch die populäre Beschäftigung mit Architektur, Stadtplanung und
Baukultur befördert.
Nach den großen
Thementrilogien „Wohnen“ (2004-2006) und „Urbanismus“ (2007-2009) wird sich plan10 den Wechselwirkungen zwischen
Architektur, Stadt und den Künsten widmen.
Die
Analyse wie die Interpretation und die Bewertung von Architektur und Stadt, von
urbanen und suburbanen Räumen hat nicht nur in Deutschland während der letzten
fünfzehn Jahre eine enorme Veränderung erfahren. Die Nähe zu künstlerischen Ansätzen bei Stadtplanern und Architekten
einerseits und das große Interesse bei Künstlern und Kulturtheoretikern an
diesen Themen andererseits hat eine Vielzahl vornehmlich temporärer Projekte
hervorgebracht, die spielerisch, zeichenhaft und metaphorisch, aber auch ganz
konkret, pragmatisch oder gar sozialpolitisch gelagert sind. So unterschiedlich
die jeweiligen Positionen und Intensionen dabei auch sein können, allen
gemeinsam ist das Interesse daran, eine Veränderung der Wahrnehmung
herbeizuführen, Situationen und Orte, Räume und Gebiete des
architektonisch-stadtstrukturellen Kontextes auf andere Art zu sehen und daraus
produktive Schlüsse zu ziehen. Und der „Königsweg“ zu diesbezüglicher Sensibilisierung
und Erkenntnisstiftung bleibt nach wie vor der künstlerische Blick – und die
dazugehörigen Strategien und Methoden.
Im plan10-Programm werden
dabei neben den bildenden Künsten auch Film, Video und weitere Medien, Theater
und andere performative Formen sowie Literatur eine wichtige Rolle spielen.
Initiatoren und
Gesamtveranstalter sind Kay von Keitz und Sabine Voggenreiter. plan
wird gefördert von der Stadt Köln und dem Ministerium für Bauen und
Verkehr des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen. Partner sind das M:AI
Museum für Architektur und Ingenieurkunst NRW und die GAG Immobilien
AG. plan ist ein Projekt der Initiative StadtBauKultur NRW.

forum for contemporary architecture in Cologne

The
exhibition and event programm "plan" was launched in 1999 with the
goal of creating a new mode of communication for architecture and urban
development – an annual cultural occasion which is aimed equally at
"insiders" from all sectors of architecture and at the general
public. The "Forum for Contemporary Architecture" offers a network
situation which serves not only to facilitate direct contact between those
involved in architectural and urban development processes, but also to promote
more public involvement with architecture, urban planning and building culture.
Following the major thematic trilogies “Living” (2004-2006) and
“Urbanism” (2007-2009), plan10 will address the interplay of architecture,
city and the arts.
Not only in Germany has the analysis – as well as the interpretation and evaluation – ofarchitecture and city, of urban and suburban
spaces undergone such enormous change in the past fifteen years. The
near-artistic approaches taken by city planners and architects on the one hand,
and the great interest artists and cultural theorists have in these topics on
the other hand have brought about numerous (primarily temporary) projects with
a playful, symbolic and metaphoric – but also very precise, pragmatic or
even sociopolitical – orientation. As diverse as the respective positions and
intentions may be: All share a common interest in bringing about a change in
perception; in seeing situations and places, spaces and areas within the
architectonic/urban structural context in a different way; and in drawing
productive conclusions. And the “best way” to create sensibility and awareness
in this regard is still the artistic approach – with the correspondingstrategies and methods.
In addition to the visual arts, an important role in the plan10 project
will be played by film, video and other media, theater and other performing
arts, and literature.
